Merida, Yucatan, January 18th, 2024 — Hotel development companies, CICLO Desarrollos, AMEK Group and Majestic Hospitality have consolidated their alliance, which will allow them to continue with the development of high impact tourism business models now as a team, taking advantage of years of experience in hospitality, planning, development, operation, and management of high-end tourism services, at an international level.
This new partnership of these top hospitality consulting firms gives shape to what will be the most important tourism project in Yucatan in decades: Destino Chichén. A high impact product, which will initially include the development of 250 hectares, with two hotels, golf course, residences, two water and adventure parks, and retail, among others. The estimated investment for this project is 150 million dollars, with a high commitment to sustainability, in addition to having a positive impact on the local and regional community as a whole.
On November 28th 2023, this project received the Prime 2 Star Level Certification from the certifying committee integrated by Nacional Financiera, Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior, Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, Bolsa Institucional de Valores and Asociación Mexicana de Instituciones Bancarias, for having implemented corporate governance strategies and having the corporate strength for investment by the stock markets and institutional funds.
Furthermore, in order to offer a completely innovative concept in the increasingly competitive world of tourism, we have found the formula to revitalize and reposition the current Chichen Itza International Airport, operated by CICLO, with new air routes negotiated and soon to be announced for both passenger and cargo aviation routes.
It is with this expert alliance in tourism services, that AMEK Group through one of its brands, AKEN Hotels & Resorts, will be the new operator for the hotel located in the multipurpose building Mid Center. AKEN Mind Mérida Hotel will open its doors in March 2024, under a new concept of conscious luxury, elevating its current proposal and offering an experience at the level of the visitor who seeks to combine business with pleasure.
This hotel, owned by CICLO, initially opened in 2022, has 136 rooms including suites, a restaurant, gym, swimming pool, rooftop, events and conference room with capacity for up to 120 people, breakout spaces, 200 sq m terrace with a view for social and corporate events, and indoor parking, among other services that highlight the concept of the experience that AKEN Mind offers to those who visit the property.
AKEN will be responsible for the operation and implementation of high quality and renovated guest service standards, complementing a greater and better integration of the brand – with local design – to the dynamics of the financial, commercial and residential area of Prolongacion Montejo.
For CICLO this alliance signifies the expansion of the group’s business diversification, aiming to achieve the highest standards in specialized hospitality and tourism services.
This new alliance represents a vote of confidence in the current prosperous dynamics of the Yucatecan economy and a commitment to improve the quality of life with decent jobs.
For AMEK Group, this consolidates its presence in Mexico with an innovative model of hotel management and branding in the luxury segment. In addition to what has already been achieved in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and the United States.
Likewise, Majestic Hospitality contributes with a global focus on the creation of the tourist’s experience and attention and, from this, the creation of unique destinations in the world.
The goal of these three hotel development companies uniting is to create unique, innovative, integral, and flexible tourism products, always with a high impact and social benefit perspective for the communities where they are developed, focused on satisfying a global tourism market that is increasingly demanding and aware of its natural environment.
